My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This is my second book by Sheila Roberts and the second in the Icicle Fall’s series. As in the previous book, The Tea Shop On Lavender Lane, has several different stories within the main story. Although, it’s not my favorite kind of read-I like to focus on one relationship at a time, I do think the author does it well.
The Tea Shop On Lavender Lane is essentially about two sisters who are looking for Mr. Right. Unfortunately their sites both land on the same man. I’ll be upfront, I’ve never particularly liked these plots. I have a hard time with siblings dating/marrying a previous boyfriend/girlfriend. And if I do like them, then it has to be done very well.
I really liked the first half of this book. Cecily Sterling has two men garnering for her attention, but it’s clear she’s steering towards one. Then mid-story her sister shows up and basically steals her man. It went down hill from there for me. Cecily does end up finding her happily ever after, with Luke, one of the men who wanted her attention. However, the story never gave you much time with the two of them to really understand her feelings for him, so it was hard for me to be happy for the way it worked out between them. As for the man stealing sister, I just can’t fathom. I understand you can’t help who you love, but I don’t feel she tried to deny those feelings much and Todd, the man whom she stole from her sister, seemed like a nice hardworking guy in the beginning, but came over as a jerk in the end. Again it was hard to find their relationship likable.
The story was well written, it just wasn’t my thing.
