REVIEW- UNEXPECTED HONEYMOON

The Unexpected HoneymoonThe Unexpected Honeymoon by Barbara Wallace

BLURB

A holiday to remember…

Widower Carlos Chavez manages La Joya del Mayan, the most romantic resort in Mexico. On good days, the romance passes unnoticed; on dark days, it only reminds him of his loss.

But the honeymoon suite’s latest guest, Larissa Boyd, has rocked his steadfastness. Stunningly beautiful, she seems lost. And no wonder…she’s on a honeymoon for one!

The chemistry is instant – and their similarities run deep. Could it be that the two loneliest hearts on the island have found love…in the most unexpected of places?

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The gist of The Unexpected Honeymoon is like many. Girl get’s jilted at the alter, decides to follow through with her honeymoon plans and meets a hunky man willing to take her mind off of the reason why she’s there. I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for these things. I mean who deserves a HEA more than a bride left at the alter? I can’t say that much sets this story apart from any of the others, but what I did enjoy, was that the circumstances didn’t leave the heroine jaded to the idea of romance, as well as, the authors style of writing that lets you understand the characters and their feelings without being overbearing or blatant. There was no constant hashing of how attracted the characters were to one another, or any explicit love scenes needed to drive home that they enjoyed each other’s company. The hints and feelings were subtle, yet perfectly conveyed. And I absolutely loved the intermingling of Spanish into the storyline. The only bad thing I can find to say, is that the last few chapters jumped a round a bit more than I would have liked. It almost seemed rushed, but overall it was still a very good story.

Old storyline, good writing, modest and likable characters.  Find it on Amazon.

I received a complimentary copy of The Unexpected Honeymoon from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
