WHAT ARE YOU READING?

What I am reading?

I’m glad you asked.  Because in my attempt to be more blogger friendly, I’m happy to kick off a monthly post about a book I’m currently reading.  I know my blog is supposed to be about me and my journey through writing, but I’m terrible about talking about myself.  I despise it.   Yes, I know, sometimes you have to toot your own horn or blow the whistle to get some attention.  I get that, I’m still trying to market my own book.  Which by the way, no one knew I was writing until after I had a contract signed, well except my husband, of course.  So it’s safe to say I have a problem with sharing.  My stuff, that is.  Other’s work, especially that I’m passionate about … no problem!

WHICH NOVEL ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING & WHO IS THE AUTHOR?

Five Days Left by Julie L. Timmer

I could have not picked a better book to begin this post with.   I was provided a copy of Five Days Left by Penguins First To Read Program.  With things being hectic lately, I’ve been trying to cut back on my review obligations, so I don’t remember requesting a copy, nor do I remember the email saying “You’re approved.”  I did however receive the notice that said, “You’re feedback would be greatly appreciated by _____.”  That was my warning that the release date is soon approaching and that since they so graciously gifted me an early copy, that I’d better hold up to my end the bargain and review the book.  So without knowing anything about Five Days Left, I clicked download and magically it was sent to my laptop, where it sat for a few days longer.  Then knowing the deadline was lurching, a couple of nights ago, I finally opened it up and dug in.

WHAT IS THE OPENING LINE OF THE BOOK?

Mara had chosen the method long ago:  Pills, vodka, and carbon monoxide.

Kuddo’s to Ms. Timmer for her opening line.  It grabbed my attention and had me Googling the book to read the blurb, because I automatically assumed this was a romance novel  and after reading the first line, I was thinking, please don’t let this be about some poor sappy chic on the verge of killing herself over a man.

WHAT ARE THE HERO & HEROINES NAMES OR MAIN CHARACTERS NAMES?

Mara and Scott

Although, I want to add that this is not a romance.  It’s a journey of two separate people who are counting down five very important days in their lives.

WHAT IS THE 1ST SENTENCE  OF THE SECOND PARAGRAPH OF CHAPTER 9?

“He listened for another few seconds, and then opened his favorites lists and clicked open the Not Your Father’s Family forum, the online support system he had relied on since the night he and Laurie agreed to keep Curtis for a year.”

I’m about a chapter away from this section of the book and let me say, it’s an emotional tale.  Within the first couple of pages, I was already bawling my eyes out like a baby.

WHAT’S NEXT ON YOUR TBR PILE?

I said I was cutting back on my review obligations, and I had been doing so well for a while, but then several grab my attention and I just couldn’t say no.  At least I’ve promised no deadlines 🙂  As you can see my taste vary and I’m usually willing to try anything.  Here’s a few on my list:

Save Riley by Yolanda Olson

Dead Man Falling by Desmond Cory

Moving On (Ghost of the Past, #1) by Trisha Grace

Tea Can Wait by Jacqueline Coote

The Ravishing of Beauty by Jessica Satin

Exposed Secrets by April Nichols Baker

That’ this months’ post of what I’m reading.  I wonder where I’ll be at in my TBR list next month or if I’ll have them all tucked away by then.  Who knows …  But for anyone interested, Five Day’s Left releases September 9th.  I’m only a third of the way in and already I recommend this book.  You can pre-order it on Amazon

So what are you reading?  I’d love to know …
